Default AEM CAI + S2000 = screeching noise?

I have a 2000 S2000 with a AEM CAI and I am getting a screeching noise during light acceleration from 2500 to 4000 rpms. Happens in all gears and the local Honda dealer is saying it is the intake. The mechanic stated that he has a S2000 with the same intake and his does the same thing. AEM tech support has not ran into this problem before.

Couple of points:
1. I do not remember the screeching starting when I first put the CAI on.
2. It only happens when I am driving. I cannot get it to make the noise by just reving the engine in neutral.
3. It seems like the noise is more noticable lately. Louder and more often.
4. I have taken the intake off up to the point where the two sections come together, and it still makes the noise.

Does anyone else have this problem? Or, how many have the AEM CAI and not have a loud screeching/whistling noise?

Or any suggestions on how to get rid of the noise short of taking the intake off?

It happens to all of them. Some people call it a loud whistle... others a screech.

It doesn't happen revving in neutral because there isn't enough load on the engine. The only advice I can give is to rev it a little more before you let the clutch out. It doesn't bog the motor as much as well.

Take the intake out and inspect it for rubbing marks. If you don't find any wear marks then it's just the banchie(sp??) trying to get out when you hit VTEC.

I have always wondered if this same "noise" occurs with Injen Cold Air Intakes as well? I know the only difference is the mid pipe does not separate....

Hey TKG, why did you switch to AEM?
I don't know about TKG, but I would switch to Injen if it weren't for the fact that it only came in chrome.
