Actually, there is still something to be said for not being able to accurately gauge the effectiveness of a CAI on a dyno... When you dyno, you dyno with the hood open and fans blowing on the car. So the stock intake will draw air just as cold as any CAI will. In actual use, your hood is closed and your engine bay is heat soaking, so the stock intake will draw very hot air, while a good CAI will still draw cool air in this case and make even more of a power gain over stock than it does on the dyno.

Common known fact- the OEM ECM gives very erratic performance with temperature variances. We could get those dyno results from intake temperature changes.

Do a search.

So the debate heats up again.. I think we all know, or should know that you cannot make large amounts of power, if any, with light modifications like the cold air intake. It would be nice but in most cases, it doesn't.

BUT, I would still purchase the AEM because I love the throaty growl that accompanies a cold air intake, the sound of all motor roaring down the street. For a lil over 2 bills, I don't expect much in the way of power but every little bit helps right? As long as you are not robbed of any power, and given a little more top end, I say why not. I mean people spend $1500 on the Mugen CAI! Does it give $1,500 worth of power, it does not, imo. But it looks cool, makes a cool sound, and the few people who do have it don't seem to be complaining. People spend over 6 bills for exhaust systems that usually make absolutely no power, or very little power in relation to the cost.

So I really don't think $246 for the CAI is that much of a penalty to be arguing over dyno numbers.

Just my .02

I'm sitting back an waiting on this to see what those of you who install this thing first conclude about performance gains. Right now, I'm a skeptic, and while I recognize that a dyno test might have some validity, I'm interested in the dyanmics of on-the-road performance.

Could someone also report on the sound of the AEM CAI for the S2K??

I remember in my Civic Si, my AEM CAI made this absolutely breath taking growl at WOT, made me do this ---->

Can anyone comment on how the AEM CAI sounds at WOT compared to stock intake?

Thanks

I'm surprised that the dyno number is lower with the K&N than the stock filter. Anyone notice that?
