Are we looking at the same chart?

I remember in my Civic Si, my AEM CAI made this absolutely breath taking growl at WOT, made me do this ---->

What's up with the cancerous tumor @ 3700 RPM?
I'd get it just cause I like them firm (good shape too), what?

Haha, I see that you're confused. Just to clear things up, S2Krazy and jschmidt were speaking of how the stock air filter performed better than the K&N replacement filter. They weren't comparing the stock filter to the AEM CAI. It totally confused me at first too..
duh - i should learn to read more carefully - but yes; it is a very interesting fact.

remember that there are many variables between dyno runs though, and that 2hp or so variance btwn runs (K&N and stock) really does not show conclusive gains/losses.

Remember that stock filter is a paper filter - it will not flow as well as an oil filter as it gets dirtier - besides, doesn't it cost more to replace the stock filter than to clean the k&n??

The bell mouth is the secret thou

The mere existence of power reduction with the K&N (from at least three sources now) is heresy to a long-time K&N user like me. This is the first time I've seen that on any car or bike!

BTW, you can fix that the paper filter flows more poorly when dirty (replace it.) You can't really fix that the K&N doesn't work as well when clean.

As to the cost, just ask the guys spending $700 and up on no-benefit intakes and exhausts if this cost is a factor.

The sound is absolutely great. VERY mean sounding.

That would be a resonance effect resulting from the length of the pipe. You can actually move that bump up and down the power curve by making the pipe longer or shorter (shorter moves it higher). But the pipe needed to be about as long as it is and they felt a bump at 3750 would help drivability quite a bit.

So I am guessing that the AEM CAI is available now? If so, what is the final price and where can I purchase it?
