Aero-Colors, a Scratch on the Front...My Adventures Inside...
Well, the inevitable happened. I got my first scratch on the S the other day. I had a garage door incident.
I got home from work the other day to find a fusball table in my garage parking spot. I backed in as far as I could...just a couple of inches between the S and the fusball table. I got out and checked the front to make sure there was enough clearance. After carefull eyeballing, I determined there wasn't enough room to close the garage door. So I decided to go upstairs and change out of my suit and tie before rearranging the garage to allow room to back in all the way. Next thing you know, my GF called. As I was talking to her and changing, my roommate came home and did the unthinkable...he closed the garage...right on the front of my beautiful S
. Arghh!!!
There were many fine scratches on the nose along with a 1.5" scratch that went down to the bare plastic. The fine scartches easily came out with 1500-grit sandpaper and 3M compound, but the deep scratch needed more. I went to Elk Grove Honda where I bought the car, and they gave me a complimentary bottle of touch-up paint. Sweet!! I love my dealership. I used the tried and true method I've used on my other cars in the past (thin layer with an artist's brush, 1500 grit, repeat until it's filled in). The more I did this, the worse it looked. I wore through the paint on either side of the scratch after a few coats. I made it look ten times worse. I took it back to the dealer, and they quoted me $440 to repaint the whole front end. I just got the car 2 months ago...I don't want to do that already...especially for such a relatively small booboo.
So I placed a call to Aero-Colors. They specialize in air-brushed touch-up work. They came out to my work this morning and did the repair for $150. They did an excellent job matching the Sebring Silver. It looks like new. The only thorn in my side now is that there are small bubbles in the clearcoat. I pointed it out to the guy who said he'll come back out in a week once the paint has cured and then buff them out. I hope it works!! I'll keep you posted. Overall I'm very happy with the results.
My reason for this post was to help others in the future should they ever need to do a search on touching up scratches since I found limited info on this site about professional touch-up services. I would recommend Aero-Colors for any such repairs. You can't even see where the original scratch was
. Thanks for reading!!

The only scratches on my car happened in my garage, once I drove into a flower pot and the other, I opened the door into the wall. Both very minor and no need for touch up paint.
I am surprised you took sandpaper to your car. The key to a good cover up job would have to be the clear coat. It is nice to know there are options to repainting.

Would Aero-Colors work for people that have their cars keyed??? There have been a few incidents where people have had their cars keyed and there really wasn't a good solution for those scratches.
Let us know how the bubbles in the clearcoat work out.
This would be a great alternative to repainting everything.
