Default aerodynamic limits of the S

so I've heard the aerodynamic limits of the car will stop it around 150 but it's capable of nearly 170.
Not that I'm doing land speed records but what modifications will allow the S to do 170?

Capable of 170? Top speed is determined by power and drag, so if drag limits a car to x speed, x speed is what it is capable of. Adding more power or lowering the drag changes a car's capabilities

I think he means the gearing is capable of around 170mph, but drag limits the car to around 150.

Things you can do to reduce drag and increase top speed are:
Hardtop
Mugen front bumper with under body tray thingy.
Remove mirrors/replace mirrors with more aerodynamic ones
remove windshield wipers
tape body gaps on the front bumper
Drive behind a Viper with a Big @$$ wing (top gear style)

You can also just add more power like supercharger or turbo.

A really big, pointy nose cone. Don't know if this will get you to 170, but it'll get you faster. Also, tires that have less rolling resistance will help. Skinny tires pumped up to a gazillion psi will do the trick.

first look at where the drag comes from

the windshield is at a shitty angle, the air going through the radiator is trapped aginst the fire wall and then gos downward under the rear of the car, the cloth roof is not smooth, and the rear bumper can act as a small parachute and catch some wind. also some wind gets caught in the wheel wells, this is why a lot of cars such as jgtc have fenders with open rear exits.

if you just wanted to do it once, as in "not permanent" mods you could block off the front grill section all together, tape off all of the cracks, and then fabricate a underbody panel for the engine compartment. also some different diameter tires will change top speed

this will raise it somewhat, but keep in mind that im only telling of things that will raise top speed, i did not account for radiator blow through and what not

Even better; a long, pointy tail cone.

It's always a good idea to leave some room on the top end, so that the engine won't overrev if you are doing high speed drafting, or going downhill, or driving with a tailwind.

This won't necessarily do anything. A small lip spoiler on the rear end will reduce drag and lift. A flat underbody and new front spoiler will do a lot for this car. Lowering it will also have a big effect. Big as in a few mph that is...You can't really change that fact that our cars are aerodynamic bricks. Oh...but such good looking bricks

The most aerodynamic shape in nature is a tear drop. Make the S look like a tear drop and take it to the salt flats.

Something tells me it wont be as easy to pick up girls driving around in a tear drop
