Default After Market Exhaust Question

Have been thinking about adding aftermarket exhaust from the Cat Converter back with new pipes, mufflers or glasspacks, and new tips. What are others using?
Got a price for custom bent pipes with glasspacks and 4" tips for $550 installed. Manufacturer stuff starts at about that price. Super Street had a CAI install and custom exhaust featured in this months edition and it looks simple enough.
Can't wait to VTEC with new pipes. Please let me know what you use, pros and cons as well as price.
Thanks,
Bob

glass packs would IMO sound horrible on this car! With the revs going as high as they do, it will start to get very raspy/pingy sounding. I would spend the extra couple of hundred dollars and get someting made for the car. A borla Cat Back will run you right around 750 shipped if you find a good deal. It lists on their site for about 850 + shipping.

I am planning on getting the borla in the next 6-8 months, others seem to like the neuspeed and fujitsobo exhausts. Otherwise, the closest in price to what your looking for is the Spugen exhausts....go to www.teamspugen.com and there you can actually download soundclips of some of their different exhausts they offer. I have heard nothing but good about their customer service, work quality, and promptness.

Hope this helps!

I went with the JIC single 505s with Ti muffler. Great sound and significantly lighter than stock (40lbs). $935

Curious as to why the Borla? Not partial to anything yet, still researching myself. What's your source for the Borla system? I'm looking for better than stock in a dual without it being too loud. Thanks much.

These are the mufflers I have.

I paid $200 for each and $50 to put them on. I retained the stock pipes b/c most people have found no real hp advantage to changing them. Of course if you are looking for weight savings, you will have to replace the pipes. They are VERY deep sounding, similar to Spugen, but a bit louder. I have heard the Spugen exhaust in person, and I would have to say the Spugen are kind of quite. Spugen is an EXCELLENT chioce, and had I known of them before I bought mine, I would have Spugen on my car instead. I love the sound of mine, but with the excellent quality of Spugen and the weight savings, it's an easy choice.

well, i heard the borla exhaust on an RSX-S and it sounded awesome!! very deep, but mellow tone, not loud, not raspy...perfect. Ive also heard it on a Lexus GS400 and that was even nicer. They also have awesome quality, and their work is unbelievable! I have heard nothing but good about them. The other thing is, i dont think anyone else has it, so id like to be the first!

Okay, you first! Since I don't even have the car yet. At first blush it seems I've narrowed it down to Spugen, Nuespeed and Borla. I am a little partial to all stainless steel as on Nuespeed and Borla but have heard great things about the Spugen.

So, get yours, and post what you think. Maybe a sound clip??

well, i will hopefully be the first to have it, but as i said, im putting the car away for winter in about 1 and 1/2 months, so there is no point to doing it now....i was going to do it right away, but a friend is moving out of town in the next couple of months, and i bought his amuse style CF hood instead!! It will hopefully be here in the spring!
