FLCB - Front Lower Chassis Brace, aka X brace.

I now understand what all the hoopla's about when people started using Spoon's cross brace. After a week of having my FLCB on the car, I am happy to say that I feel it's another marketable Mingster product. Third party testing starts this weekend with the help of Elements and (hopefully) TFota and Cthree. Production on the first group buy (GB price is $160 for 5 pcs ordered, $150 on 10pcs ordered) will commence sometime next week, after the testing has been done. Ashville attendees will be able to purchase the FLCB directly from us, please email TimS2K at tims2ki@yahoo.com if you would like to pre-order.

The FLCB (I would like to differentiate somewhat in the name) doesn't do much when you go in a straight line, but go into a turn and I would notice a marked improvement in terms of the car's stability, especially in tight turns. The steering feedback and the overall feel of the front end of the car is "stable" and "firm" - it's rather difficult to describe, but it gives you this confidence-building effect during a turn, allowing you to push the turn at a higher speed. Today for example, I was able to take the tight S turn on the 110N near South Pasadena at 91MPH in the middle lane and still felt very confident about the car's stability (I was a bit nervous, CHPs are known to hang out there) - now I only did that for the sake of experiment . Those of you who live in LA and knows what I'm talking about should be able to relate your own driving experience on that turn. I don't recommend taking that turn at such a high speed, but I wanted to see how stable/solid the front end feels, and the result was very satisfying indeed.

Production FLCB will be powdercoated silver to further differentiate my product from others. Also, in case you didn't know, silver is the BEST color

Silver might be the best color, but your car is GREY!!

Oh, and nice job with the brace, I'll have to consider this purchase.

Mingster,

In another thread, there was discussion of the upper strut brace causing understeer. Did you notice any changes in oversteer/understeer with the new cross brace?

Thanks,
Tanq

Mingster: I believe cthree installed the Spoon X-brace at the last L.A. meet. Does that mean he's planning to change over to your FLCB, so that he can do a performance comparison test?

If the measurements are identical to "the other" brace, and I assume there is no flex in either product, how or why could there be any performance difference?
