Which Aftermarket Speakers?
Okay... I need somemore omph after hearing Viscreal's and S2Sav's cars the otherday.
I'd like to start off with just installing new speakers (no new headunit yet) and would like to hear recommendations on what to get. I'm of course looking for the best sound that'll fit into the stock mounts. Prices and best place to order online would be helpful.
Follow-ups appreciated.

I'm interested in the same thing.
I listened to some MB Quart 5.25" coax's that weren't bad, but I'm still not sure how good the sound can be with the left speaker in the door almost perpendicular to your ears.

Maybe you should get an AMP and speakers.
Depends on what you want. I have Polk dx components. The stock head unit will drive them with plenty of room to add an amp and/or deck. You have to cut the basket and drill 4 small holes in the door panel (2 each side). If you don't want to drill there are plenty of two and three ways that people have recommended. If you don't want to cut the basket, there are only few speakers that will fit. I would cut the basket, giving more options.

I'm enjoying Infinity 62.1i speakers. They're much better than the stock units, but for even more improved sound, need more power than the stock head unit can provide. I'll be adding a nice mid-powered amp (40-75W) in the near future.
I put the MB Quart 215's in my S2000. Much improved, but they could use more power...which I may do a small amp. Frankly, to me in this car, unlike every other car I have had, the stereo is far far less important...
But new speakers greatly improve the sound...

Check out my audio upgrade page. There's also some good links to this sort of thing on the s2ki site.
At the end of the day new speakers will improve the sound, but not by much. If you spend $100 on speakers, you'll get an improvement, $200, not much more, $500, still not much more. Why, because it's a weakest link in the chain thing, and your head unit doesn't have the power to properly drive really good speakers. Also, if you bump up the volume, your head unit will just output more distortion, and you'll damage your speakers.
So if you really think you're only going to buy speakers, get some $100 Sony or Kenwoods or whatever. If you want a real improvement, get an amp and some decent speakers, and then once the addiction kicks in go the head unit and Pinky's Audio Controller (hey Pinky, do you like that name?
). I started out thinking "I just want speakers", and now look where I am. Still haven't installed the MP3 player yet, but that's because it's attached to my home system.
