I am probably among the oldest owners, at 63.
I've had sports or "sporty" cars much of my life. Naturally, nature of cars changed after wife and children came on the scene.
Cars I've had, pretty much in chronological order:
'50 Mercury flathead V8 (used and heavily modded)
Jag XK120 roadster (VERY used)
VW Karman Ghia (used - installed puny Porsche engine)
AH 3000 (used)
TR-3A (used)
Dodge Dart (used - now w/ wife)
Dodge Charger, 383 ci twin-four barrel (used, added mods- wife)
Dodge Aspen Wagon (new - wife AND kids)
2nd Dodge Dart (new - still wife & kids)
Toyota Camry (new - still wife & kids)
Ply. Voyeur minivan (new - still wife & kids)
Olds Cutlass Wagon, diesel (new - still wife & kids)
Thunderbird SC, (new w/ lots of mods - still wife, but kids gone)
2nd Camry (new - still married)
S2000 (new w/ lots of mods, and still same wife)

18.. still paying.. will be for a while.. 12k down and $280 a month.. got her for $25,600 with a 7 year warranty!
As for insurance, I pay around $1600 a year.. for 2 cars, my 01' S2000 and my 92' DX wintermobile both insured year round... My insurance agent was good friends with my father before he passed away... so my family gets decent deals..
How did I afford it?:
-Technical Support for Sony at age 16
-Installed electronics (alarms, stereos, etc.) for Auto Accessory World (Local Install shop) this year..
-And now I install car alarms on my own, I usually pull in about $175-$200 per install....
99% of them are Compustars.. the 2WFM-AS unit, a pager system.. a good $300 unit.. one of the best that are out there..
so if anyone is interested

You charge $200 US to install Compustars? I should tell my roommate to charge more then, cuz he charges $200 Canadian ($125 US)!
The 2WFM-AS is a wicked unit, its what I've had in my past two cars... but I don't pay $300 for them

This has been a very revealing poll! Especially when you consider the demographic Honda was aiming at when they designed the S2000: Male, 40+ with some very high level of income. So now most owners (at least here) are quite young, this explains many things to me
