Idk maybe you guys are right and I'm just confusing lol
The most agressive downshift is from 6th gear all the way to 1st gear, you should try it sometime!
You will see that your engine internals want to be agressive aswel and eventually fly around.
Best results can be found from 100+ mph!
C'mon man, this isnt honda-tech

you should never downshift to first...

You do realize you can do in excess of 40mph in first gear? I generally don't feel the need to downshift to first going anywhere over 20mph, but you can safely go more if you are smooth and deliberate, but there usually is no need unless there is that one damn tight corner you bog out of at the racetrack. A good tune usually resolves that issue though.
x2. I downshift to first when im pulling into parking lots and such at no more then like 10 or 15 mph when I know im going to be creeping along at slow speeds and don't want to bog down in second. car doesn't seem to have a problem with it.

It's possible to beat the blocker ring if done a certain way. However, unless you're on the track, why bother?
I only shift into first if I'm at an autocross, otherwise there really is no point as 2nd is still aggressively geared, but I think that's beside the main point of this thread.

I think it was answered early on, but if you are looking to downshift for the purpose of getting to the most effective WOT acceleration, you want to downshift so you are right at the 6k mark and can take full advantage of the aggressive cam phasing. If you can't get right to 6k, you're better off over it than under it, especially with the F20.

It is important to know the max speeds you can downshift at when breaking.

no, you should never downshift into first unless youre at a completely stop or barely rolling...good way to f@#k up your transmission
BS in this car. Learn how to operate your clutch, gas and transmission effectively and you wont have a problem.

i know how to operate my clutch, gas, and trans effectively...you can downshift into first while going faster than 10 mph all you want, i on the other hand will stick to 2nd...and i still wont have a problem

Except bogging your motor

This isn't your grandfathers pick up truck lol. You can actually rev match with this car. They called that driving skill and using your equipment effectively.

I've been on many 60 second courses where I've had to downshift to first at least 4 times. Autocrossed the car heavily for 8 years. Transmission shifts like new and clutch is original. Not much need to do it any other time.
