Default Ahhh crap! Broke both latches

Got off of work and decided I would put the top down. Well between talking to someone, putting in a new cd, and putting the top down I forgot to rehook the latches. When the top got to the bottom I heard a loud crack and then it started to rain a little so I put the top up. Well the latches would no longer stay shut and it was raining so I went back to work and got some tape to hold the latches up.

Got home to find that the plastic pieces that hold the latch up are broken. Has anyone repaired this problem? I'm sure I can get something to work but wanted to see if anyone else has come up with anything. I don't really wanna shell out $150 because the one piece of plastic in an all metal body broke.

I think your only option is to replace. Any type of repair probably wouldn't last long as the car puts alot of stress on those latches. Theres a few online websites I'm sure you can get them for less than the dealer.

I dont know anyway of fixing them you may ahve to buy new ones since honda does not list parts of an exploded latch, they only offer the latch itself.

Post pics and maybe someone could come up with a way to fix it.

I've never seen anyone break the latches. Can you post a picture of what that looks like?

Pic with the broken piece.

Pic with the temporarily repaired piece in place.

I repaired both sides using glue and flat toothpicks. I opened and closed it about 20 times and the left side broke. Right side still good for now but I need to come up with something better. I may just drill it and put a pin through the side of it for a little while. I don't know though.

I broke my drivers side one the other day. It got stuck on something on the way down (?). My local Honda lists one striker at 217.00

Trying to find a junkyard that has them has been fruitless so far.

Get the hardtop strikers instead of the soft top version while you are at it.

I'm quite sure the 02+ s2ks all come with the updated strikers. Only the 00-01's have to upgrade those to hardtop strikers.
