AHM and Us...!
Great work guys!
I can appreciate how much time has been invested in this little endeavor. Support from the manufacturer to a club is darn difficult to achieve so it is obvious you have been burning the midnight oil. Now what I would like to know is just WHO worked to pull this off?
I'll confess, I did not vote in the elections because I'm not sure who is doing and who is posing, but the people who worked to get this together were definitely doing!
Thanks!

So...there's an agreement...you've been advertising it for weeks...it is now made...but you can't talk about it now or evermore? Wow. That's exciting.
Please get some legal advice soon. I'd love to be able to enjoy this moment! Even more, I'd love to see how it benefits me.

Having done lots of contracts, I would be surprised if the club could disclose any part of the contract to "just anyone" (ie, us). Basically, the giving party (Honda in this case) considers such contracts trade secrets. Sucks, but that's usually how it works. So, if S2KCA says it can't disclose the contract details, it's likely not a conspiracy.
That said, I'm looking forward to hearing what the agreement will mean to the club. For one, I'm just not sure what advantage working with Honda will bring. Maybe an S2KCA application with every S2000 purchase?

Can we have a little celebration in light of all the hysteria of late? Thank you.
As Brad said, there is an ND clause that we simply must conform to. Let me tell you why this is such a big deal to those who don't think that it is.
We initially contacted AHM in March of last year to get recognition for the organization. We had hoped to have it before S2KDays last year. Didn't happen. We would follow up with the company every so often and the application was constantly "under review." Brad made the initial contact. When Rick came on board, he tried to move the process along and made contact with an attorney in legal who was tasked with this. That person left the company about 3 months ago. I had also been leaving numerous voice mails on this person VM who was no longer with the company! So, finally one day, I transferred out of VM and got a secretary. She had no idea what I was talking about, but told me that that person was no long with Honda. I couldn't believe it! So, I explained the situation and she transferred me to an attorney who happened to be the person who drafted the agreement! With the departure of that other guy, he didn't know what was going on with it and thought that we already had the document.
Well, over the last 6-8 weeks, it's been back and forth and many phone calls from me, pushing on them to get the process moved and now we have it. I'd say that's pretty damn cool for something that started almost a year ago. I'm having a little celebration...as everyone who understands what this means to the club.
What does this do for you, specifically, jschmidt? I don't really know how to answer that question. If you are hoping that it will provide you with eternal salvation, that's not gonna happen here.
But if you can appreciate that our little burgeoning club is now recognized by AHM, it means that the manufacturer of the S2000 supports and recognizes our club and they are interested in helping us grow it. That's good for all of us...
Thanks for all the kind words everyone...we have worked hard for a long time on this, we're very pleased!
I am going to talk with them tomorrow and get from them exactly what they are OK with us revealing. But Lane is right, we have to keep a pretty tight lip on the specifics...sorry, that's just how it is.
Thanks again...

As Greg indicates, the main take away from this is that AHM has recognized our efforts and wants to help us grow the club. We have discussed some things with them to date and they seem excited to help us with PR and marketing efforts. It could lead to other forms of support as well, but it is too early in the game to speculate as to where it will lead.
jschmidt - we may not be able to actually talk about the agreement, but we will be able to do things with the agreement. We may not be able to show the benefits to individual members at first, since we will be working with AHM to define our relationship as we move forward. The main benefits at first will be for the growth of the club as a whole.
