Default air filter - stock vs. aftermarket (drop in)

so are there any benefits to replacing the stock intake filter with an aftermarket? i realize the increase in horsepower and fuel economy will probably be negligible, but is putting a higher quality aftermarket filter better for the engine?

if anything an aftermarket filter will hurt your engine but not anything you will notice or have to repair, why? how can you get more horse power from an aftermarket filter? it lets more air pass threw the filter, how does it let more air pass threw? bcuz the material being used to filter the air is less dense compared to OEM

^Until you realize OEM filter = expensive! one OEM filter = one KN filter, KN filter = reusable.

Just my 2cents. Im running OEM right now but hoping for a KN FIPK before I need another one.

reusable sure, but everytime you wash it your slowly reducing how well it filters, ontop of already not being that protective bcuz you get more horsepower from it

SOME aftermarket filters can filter 97-98% of what the OEM filter can do and can flow a lot more. what is more important is up to you.

I also disagree with this statement.
