Easily. Some of us have them mounted behind the grill in front of the radiator. Try a search of the board for 'air horns' and you will find lots and lots of info, pics and install instructions.
One of the Bay Area S2000 owners has installed an air horn. It was reasonably priced ($35 or so) and the installation looks clean. I would add one to my car, but I'm trying to keep it totally stock.
I have heard the sound of the dual Fiamm air horns described as Ferrari-like.
How do the electric horns sound? Better? Worse? A couple of us are going to install new horns soon and need help choosing.
I just installed the dual fiamm air horns today! I definitely like them better than stock. (I was embarrassed to honk my horn before) They're loud - 131 decibels is probably a bit overkill. Here is a link to the original thread. The horns now come with different mounting options. I was able to place my horns out of sight (where the red circles are) instead of where they are in the picture...
The horns shown above are 'electrostatic' rather than 'air' horns. I have then installed in my S and they are a great improvement. They are not quite as loud as air horns but loud enough so that SUV's realise you are there.
They have two advantages over air horns. As they don't have a separate compressor they are much easier to install, and because they don't rely on air pressure they are far more instantaneous.
Pictures of my install are here. I used the lead to the original horn to trigger a relay (mounted in place of the old horn), and the horns mounted on either side if the front opening using existing bolts.
I've had Fiamm air horns in the past and they do sound like a Ferrari (sort of). I now have the Fiamm non-air horns and they sound like "an Oldsmobile". They are plenty loud and they get people's attention.
I've found that air horns need a bit of care and maintenance or they quit working after about a year or two due to the crud that gets in and builds up in the compressor and the horns themselves. You need to clean and oil the compressor or it will eventually seize up. Then there's the horns themselves. They just won't make any noise from the grime that builds up on the part that's supposed to vibrate.
