Default Alarm

Does anyone have an idea how reliable and effective the stock alarm / engine disabler is on the s2000. Mine came with a motion detector etc. but I want to know if any one has a car thief for friend who can tell us how long it will take him to steal the car.

The stock alarm work just fine but many people R goin the aftermaket route for extra protection.. The stock immobilizer works very well.. The theives can't steal your car unless they towed it with a truck or sth...

The UK model cars come with Alarm/Immoboliser, however in a recent security test in a UK magazine (Autocar I think) the S2000 was the only car in its class in which the testers managed to gain entry and drive away with the car within a specified time scale (not sure if it was 5 mins or 30 mins). The magazine slated the immobolizer.

The Alarm/Immobolizer will deter a petty thief but a hardened car thief would probably be able to get round them. I had a good immoboliser on my 94 prelude (insurance approved), however I got up one morning to find the car gone and the black immoboliser cables lying on the floor, they obviously new what they were doing. My S2k is always locked securley in the garage and the garage alarmed.

Can I get back to you on this? My car thief friend is on vacation right now. He's on vacation with my pimp friend, my drug dealer friend, my mugger friend, my bank robber friend, my B&E friend and my mobster friend.

My car thief friend would not be a good source. He's not too good. Got caught, convicted and is now in jail. Sorry.

All my car thief friends averaged 30-45 seconds, but I've been able to do it in 15-30.
