alignment before delievery? Yes?, no?
I've seen it mentioned on this board that the s2000 may or may not have properly alignment when new from the dealer. I've also read that proper alignment is key to secure handling.
Did you have your car aligned before deliervy?
Is this something the dealer would do anyhow in a normal dealer prep?
How can I make sure the car is properly aligned before taking delievery?
Thanks

I don't know about recent deliveries, but early cars seemed to be often delivered with poor alignments.
Unless things are really out of whack, it will be difficult to detect by casual observation or driving the car, though.
Good luck trying to get the dealer to do a pre-delivery alignment, though.

I would say align if you have any doubt. Replaced my rears at 10k and had to replace the fronts at 11k because the insides were bald. I couldnt tell until it was up on the lift (never thought to turn the wheel).
Car handled fine never noticed anything until I saw the tires.

I just got a new 03. The steering wheel was VERY SLIGHTLY off center when I picked it up. I took it back to the dealer a week later but their alignment rack was not working. I finally got back to them 2000 miles later. My alignment was way off, camber toe, thrust angle averything. I don't have the specs in front of me but I had essenially no neg front camber, toe was off. The right rear had -1.8, left rear was -1.0 and toe was off. My front tires were starting to cup a little bit. Had them align everything to factory specs and it feels better with a centered wheel. I also had them change out my tranny and diff fluid (shifting was a little notchy, it is now much better).
One other thing I checked myself was making sure the sparkplugs were torqued to 18 ft/lbs with a torque wrench (also wheels at 80 ft/lbs).

I took delivery of my '02 in April last year. I drove until the 1st oil change and then had the alignment redone. Let me just say it was way off, and not only off, it was not even side to side. I highly recommend all new cars get an alignment, and in fact if you are buying from a good dealer you might even get this included in the dealer prep that gets done to the car prior to delivery.
When I bought my S, I made it a condition of sale that before I took delivery that they check the alignment of the 4 wheels, as well as the headlight alignment as all cars I have ever gotten were off in that latter category. My dealer didn't fuss, and they even gave me a copy of the specs from the alignment check, which said it was fine. I have a copy of the service request too in case problems should arise. I am going to do that from now on on all cars I get. They also did it on my 1998 Chevy truck too before I bought it and it was off.
Go for it and make them do it if you want it checked!!
