I just got an alignment job done on my s2000 because it was pulling to the right. When I got it back, it was pulling to the left. I took it back to the shop and they told me the alignment is within Honda's specs, but the tires are worn in way that makes it pull to the left. Is that something that commonly happens?

yeah mine pulls to the right too. it sucks. its better now that i got new rubber all the way around, but it is still there. grrrr

 

Mine pulled to the side when switching between acceleration and braking when I replaced a rear tire that was destroyed at 2500 miles. Even the tiniest bit of difference between the two rear tires can cause it to pull. Make sure the pressure is the same in both as well.

 

As Grampaa said (I love that plate!), there are lots of things that can cause a car to pull one way or the other. Front end alignment is only one of them.

One thing to make sure of is that it's really pulling at all. In my case, the steering wheel is just the slightest bit off center, so that to go straight down the road, the wheel is just left of center. That gives the impression that the car is pulling to the right. But if I let go of it, the car continues straight -- it doesn't pull at all.

 

it could be tires or suspension or something else. Tires would show wear.

Funny thing, my car handled fine, I had it up on a lift and saw the front tires bald at 11k. EVEN wear on the insides. Slapped on some new S02s, aligned and we're in good shape.

 

Tire pressure is a common cause.....

 

my steering wheel is also pointing a bit to the left when the car is going straight. The car is only one month old and has had this steering wheel mal-alignment since I got it.

I wonder if I should have the wheel alignment done (even for a brand new car) as suggested by someone a few days ago.

 

If I had gotten an alignment for my car when I first bought it, my front tires would have lasted a lot longer. If you can get an extra 5000 miles from $300 worth of front tires by spending $79 on an alignment, it makes economic sense. Mine were worn out at 11,000 and I was warned at 5000 miles that I should start thinking about getting new front tires. I had the alignment instead and replaced all four together.

 

There can be a number of reasons why your car pulls. Alignment could be one of them. Air pressure is also a factor that can cause this.
If you have excessive wear on your tires, replace them and THEN align your car. Also the S2000 naturally have a neg camber from the factory, so this will give you some inner tire wear. For those of wearing out your SO2's in less than 10,000 miles....we all know how WE drive ....right?!?
