Default All 240 ponies?

I am not too smart with cars.. but how come that I see dyno reports of base s2000's and they come up to about 180-200 horsepower? Why don't they all come up 240?

This website dyno'ed a 2001 Stock s2000 and came up with 198.1 horsepower. Do we lose horsepower overtime ?

Thanks!

You are talking about two different things. The dyno is wheel horse power and the 240 hp rating is crank horse power.

You are comparing wheel horsepower (200) to engine horsepower (240).

And then to confuse you MORE, technically the AP2 (2004+) comes with 237, not 240 due to a change in the ratings system.

The transfer of power through the drive shaft, differential, and into the wheels.

What is more commonly refered to? The Wheel horse power or the crank horse power?
