Default For all Comptech exhaust owners

Any owners of a Comptech exhaust out there experience a metalic sounding noise coming from an exhaust tip? Mine is noticeable on acceleration. Have contacted Comptech with no reply to date. Any help? Thanks.

I have not heard of that problem with the Comptech exhaust. I've had mine on for 1 1/2 years without so much as a peep. I researched the exhausts pretty heavily, and didn't come across this. Can you describe the problem in more detail?

I got a comptech exhaust and no issue at all with the tips. The main flange on the B pipe to the cat cracked on me but I just got it re-weilded.

You should take a good look down there. maybe something got into your exhaust and its rattling in there. Check all flanges and hooks. You might have to take out the mufflers and inspect them. IMO.

I too had a crack at the bottom of the exhaust and I thought that was the problem because the noise gets worse as the exhaust heats up. So I'm thinking the crack opened up and made the noise, but after having it welded the noise remains.
I can't descibe it any more than the sound of loose metal vibrating at certain points of acceleration. Doesn't do it on down shifting.
I had my wife sit in the car and rev it. While doing so I put a long screw driver inside the tip, long so I wouldn't burn myself and secondly to be able to apply pressure within the tip. This worked, once the noise started I applied the pressure and it went away.
I have about 95,000 miles on the darn thing so maybe it's just wearing out...but is it fixable...?

We have a Comptech here in town with a bad canister. One of the baffles inside the canister is obviously either loose or completely broken.

I have the one with the bad canister. It rattles like an sob at cold idle and when warm it vibrates at 3000rpm like a bitch. If someone holds the tip while I rev it up, the noise goes away. Comptech said to mail it in and they will attempt to repair it for me. There is a broken weld in the can where Comptech welds their own tip and casing in place.

david1, are you going to send it in? Did they say how much they'd charge to fix it?

I will send it in when I put to S i storage for the winter. Don't know what it will cost yet, but it got to be less than a new system.
