Default almost bought a S2k today.....

i havent really posted much on this board, but for anyone who doesnt know ive been wanting an S2000 since they first came out......i have a 2000 Nissan Frontier Crew cab SE.......and i want to trade it on an S2000......but today i went to an out-of-town Mercedes dealer and they had a 2000 silver/black S2k sitting at the back of the dealership and i asked if it was used, he said they jus got it in yesterday......i went to inspect it and there was a scratch on the front bumper and and a misfitting back bumper (probably a very slow rear-end bump) w/ no paint damage......i asked him for a quote without the stuff fixed (my nextdoor neighbor manages an autobody repair place).......and he quoted me an unbelievable price of 24,500.......w/ only 17,500 miles on it.......i asked why so cheap, was there somthin wrong w/ it???.....he said Mercedes doesnt wanna have a used Honda on the lot so they were jus gonna sell it WHOLESALE to another dealership (or me).....and i thought that was a pretty damn good deal......*of course i would have it inspected* but i wanted to know everyones opinion.......i wouldnt seriously think about somthing i doubt.....and i think this car would be as good as new when i fix the minor things that are wrong w/ the APPEARANCE of it........thanks all

Sounds good to me!!! That is a pretty good price, but be sure to have it thoroughly inspected to be sure there isn't anything else wrong...

I'm not sure what the loss in value is for a car that's one year old (as most cars with about 17k will be), but I assume it wouldn't be more than a couple thousand. That in mind, I personally think that $24k is a steal.

hey Tom, at 24k that is a steal, be sure to check if every panel on the body has the oem sticker on it. this is also a good way to tell if it ever has been wrecked or had a replacement fender good luck.

Sounds like a great deal but as everyone else is saying - make sure the Carfax report checks out and be sure to go over the bodywork in detail. Don't rush into it but if everything looks OK - go for it!! Damn - I didn't know Mercedes dealers disliked Hondas so much.

Tom, post or email me the VIN number and I'll run a full Carfax report for you. But do it quick, my account is about to run out...

Sounds sweet. I have dealed with the local MB dealer and they will not keep another brand on the lot most of the time. My trade-in went straight to the auto auction.

Sounds like a great deal, but you should definitely get it checked out with carfax.

There is a MB dealer down here and I've seen the same S2K sitting on their used car lot for a while now. Guess not all MB dealers are the same when it comes to other cars on their lot.

I've been seeing S2000's with that kind of mileage go for $28,000, no damage, so you have to figure less than $4K for repair AND potentially reduced resale value if it's known it was in an accident.
