I buy VP Motorsports 103 a 54 gallon drum at a time from a local distributor. Since I pick it up, there is no shipping charge. I pay $269 for it. Another place has it for $254, but they are further away. Be careful buying race fuel from places that store it themselves - race fuel absorbs a lot of moisture from the air and if the place isn't storing it air tight, you can get a jug of fuel and water - trust me, I know

If you get the barrel yourself, you will know that it is being stored properly.

That depends on whether you are my insurance agent or not I thought about it and decided that a sealed drum is no more unsafe than the 10 gallons of regular gas kept around for the lawnmower, or the 5 gallons of propane for the gas grill...etc.
