Default Almost got stolen?

Last night, someone knocked on my door at 1am. I didn't get it because i was tired and in bed. My gf walks out for work this morning and found my car cover on the ground. I got the message about this and got real paranoid. The guy who knocked on my door was security that patrols the lots, and the guy is someone who i know. He probably found the car cover on the ground and said oh crap, or wth>? So now, i am paranoid about this mystery person who is messing with my car. Good thing nothing happened to the car itself. They probably took the car cover off, and then someone might have saw it in action and left. That's the only thing i can think of.
So, what would you do in my situation? i only have a factory alarm. Any other suggestions i should look into?

For one thing, I arm myself and answer my door if it is knocked on in the small hours of the night. So, that would be a good thing for you to do moving forward.

next step would be to lock the car cover, and clean it well, so that if it is taken off again the next night, maybe it can be fingerprinted? I have no idea about that, I'm just thinking aloud. Um... can't really think of anything else, apart from the things you should have already... motion detectors that turn a light on, an alarm on the car, blah blah.

Make sure your theft insurance is comprehensive, up to date, and you have your mods listed. Sad thing is, if they want it that bad, they'll get it and there's nothing you can do. Hope they weren't scoping you out, and got scared by security, hence the dropped car cover. If that's what happened, either they decided they want your ar and they'll be back, OR, they noticed the security and won't bother your neighbourhood ever again. Fingers crossed its the latter.

try a security system that pages the remote receiver when someone bumps/breaks into your car. alos you can try zoomback. it's cheaper than lojack and works the same. http://www.zoombak.com/

It can't be the wind. I am surrounded by other cars that deflect wind. The car cover, i have to stretch the elastic from under the bumpers just to take it out. Good idea for the pager alarm. i need a house and garage ultimately. i can always depend on insurance to cover everything.

step1: get a picture of an automatic rifle off the intarwebs
step2: print said picture on the largest paper you have
step3: write "MAKE MY DAY" on said picture in black marker
step4: attach your completed work to the car in an obvious area

you could simply pull your starter fuse and keep that on you until you start your car.
