Alpine Stereo
There is apparently an aftermarket part that allows simple plug and play installs for Alpine stereos in the S2k and still keep the aux controls hot.
The manufacturer is Amps of America. The part number for the Alpine units is p0290 which is for Honda model years 98-00.
I called Amps of America, but they would not talk to me since I'm not a dealer. i called my stereo shop and they said they would call to ensure compatibility with the S2k.
I also asked the sales guy to find out what's available for Kenwood units. I'm really interested in the MP3 CD player they have. Check it: http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S-nFCEb...113z919&o=M&a=0
I'll post again when I get a call back from the stereo shop.
Email me if you want more specifics:

I have it in my car..works well enough, but the factory controls are so minimla, I find myself using the headunit anyway (since it cotrols my hanger, etc. too). If you want, I can find out who makes it though.
I would be interested in knowing that information as well. I have my IR setup but hell if I can get a hard wired piece that is fine with me too!
Please get me specific part numbers and prices! And if its full functioning???
Being connected with a dealer im sure I can get it to you guys cheaper than you can from a local shop! Can anybody help me help others?

Ok, it's official. The part number is different from what I posted earlier. that part was for an adapter for the CD changer.
The aux controller part is PESWI3, still made by Amps of America, and runs about $80. The stereo shop said it would take 2 days to order it.
I could not find it on the website, but here is the URL for Amps of America: http://www.stinger-aamp.com
I'll post again when I get the new head unit installed.

I honestly don't think it's worth it. There seems to be some voltage fluctuations when using alpine head units that others don't encounter (Kenwood, Panasonic, etc.). Sometime, especialy when using the channel function (changes track on the CD, and presets on the radio), you have to hit it 2 times. I find it does this more in "radio" mode than "cd track" mode though, Mute works fine. Volume stinks, but I don't control volume from the head unit itself, but rather from my procesor.
