Am I a new owner?
I'm looking at this car
http://usedcars.kbb.com/fyc_b/vdp.jsp?ct=u...5833&cardist=47
saturday morning at 7 to see if I like it, it comes with the hardtop they bought with the car from the dealer when new.
1. Trading in my new 08 civic si coupe with 8k miles for 18.5k to carmax if I do the deal and the car I hope can be had for 23k maybe even possibly 22k but if I go over 24k I cant afford it.
2. I'm going to be driving from sacramento to napa everyday which is why I just got the civic si but I'm hoping the s2000 can deal with the daily commute as its going to get over 200k miles in about 4 to 5 years!
3. Basically the g35 coupe is nice but not sure I can afford one with 36k miles on it much less 6k like this s2k plus the gas for it even though there wont be much of a difference on the freeway,
4. I'm also hoping the s2000 won't be as loud with the hardtop maybe quiet enough to talk on the phone or listen to music on the long commute?
5. The most stress I think is from everyone, from my dad to my girl friend getting really angry over it which is why its probably this car or bust.

1. you should never buy something you can only barely afford. But thats your choice. By the way, I own an 07 S2000 and I can with all honesty say that with the exception of my S, the SI is one of the funnest car I have driven. But hey, if you wanna go through the hassle of trading it in to something thats gonna be harder on your wallet then thats up to you. Really, IM not judging you.
2. I daily drive my S, no problem. I dont think that the S is that much more "Hardcore" than the si, with the exception of space.
3. Test drive both. If you like the g35 more, save a little and wait until your ready to buy a "proper" used one. No point in buying something you dont like just because its in your price range. Unless its a necessity.
4. its only loud if you want it to be.
5. Why are they angry? You shouldnt rush into something because of them. you may just end up resenting them. I dont know why they would be upset, but something tells me that they have a good reason.

thx for the replies, deffinately would resent them especially my parents, I was one of the weird teenagers when I was younger that never hated or got angry at his parents too much respect for them.
but ya I hear you, on pushing the limit, I just graduated from college and I try to make sure I never owe anything other then the loan for this car which is why I will only buy if the monthly payments stay about the same as I dont have any form of savings after using it on the si purchase (its either this si or the s2k until the wheels fall off of it).
I owe 8500 on the loan and will have $10,000 from the trade in plus another $1000 or $2000 and I pay less then 200 a month for my car so insurance is the expensive part evey month lol.
I essentially only wanted to buy the car if I could get it for a price that was absolutely no higher then 250 a month and the insurance is supposed to be the same or within a few dollars.
Ultimately after the last response I'm going over to see the car and wont buy if its any more money own per month then my current car which is easy to pay for.

Why not buy used with around 50-60k miles for like 15000$ - especially because you will put 200k miles in 5 years. These are Hondas - not much difference between 200k miles and 250k miles except the 10000$ you will save by buying an older car!
Besides, this way you wont have a car payment to worry about.
P.S. I don't get the title.
Also, a quick question... they link to autotrader shows $29,000. I am not sure if they would come down to 23k! I mean I wouldn't pay more than 24k because a new leftover 2007 s2000 can be had for 27k or so but 6k less than their asking price might be hard. I would take print out of a thread on this forum where people post links to 2007 new s2000s for 27-28k and use that as a negotiating tool. Either way, good luck.

dude,..hit up carmax in sac/roseville,...last summer i almost bought a 06 for their no haggle price of 25,900 /10k miles with all oem spoilers(front lip, side strakes, and rear spolier)..........i opted for an 04 with 20k for 22 though. they always have s2ks there,...if you want, see how much they will just buy your car from you,....then buy used and avoid sales tax

I agree that $29k is high for a used 06.

I think some of you forget that it also includes the hardtop.
It's still a little high, but not obscene.
OP, if you didnt mind driving up to OR, one of our local guys is selling his 05

No hardtop though.
Just a thought.
