Am I smart or paranoid?
Ok...3 months ago I bought this baby below. My girlfriend also bought a 98 Eclipse. Our Apt does not have indoor parking. We have assigned spaces in front of our apt. Our other 2 cars(a ford probe and hyundai elantra) had to be parked on the street since we only had 2 spaces. Since April the Elantra was key twice on the driver side door. The Probe was spraypainted along the front windshield and down the driver's side window(just happened 2 weeks ago). Now that those cars have been sold I am a little worried about our good cars. Since I work for a video security company, I was able to get a high resolution camera with a zoom lens, housing, and mount. I wired the camera outside my apt to record our cars during the hours of 10p-6am. I figured if someone messes with the cars at least I have video that i could take to the cops to help identify the guy. Do you guys think this is a smart idea or just plain paranoid. Be gentle. Thanks.
Yeah..nothing has happened yet as far as i know. There is a small hole the size of a pin in my top. I dont think it happened here though. It could just be the age of the top. I dont know. After reading how people's seats and shiftknobs were stolen I had to do something. I definitely need tamper proof screws for the seats.
I think that is a great idea...Especially seeing how both of your past cars (even though they were on the side of the road..I'm aussuming they are still walking distance away from your apt.) have been vandilized...I would just sit on my front porch with a shotgun
...But I think I would get better sleep if I did what you are talking about

Paranoia is irrational fear. Your fear is not irrational. I don't think your actions will help prevent a loss, but they'll be useful after one happens, and they might provide some sense of peace along the way.
I live in the sort of apartment complex in which my car is about twice as valuable as anything else in the lot, and I hate that I have to leave it out there. I'd love to be able to feel like I was doing something.
