Default Am I too tall for an S with a hardtop?

I'm 6'4" tall around 250lbs. and losing weight, but I've heard from a few friends that I'm too tall for an AP1 with a hardtop attached. I'm pretty equal as far as leg and upper body length if that matters. I still have yet to sit in one, but when my current car is paid off (1 year left), I'll be looking into getting an AP1. This so far is the only thing steering me away from getting one. Can anybody help me out on my height issues?

the hardtop is the same size as the softtop...

I am about 6'1, and no problems. You can always lower your seat for an inch or two extra.

At 6'4" 250lbs, you will be pushing it. You can work around your height (lower seats as mentioned), however at 250 if you are somewhat broadly built (wide shoulders etc) the seat may not be very comfortable for you.

Only thing we can really suggest, go right now for a test drive. No need to wait a year even, check them out now so you don't build up your expectations just to realize that it may not be a practical car for you. Also see if you can find an '03 if you want an Ap1. Not only does it have some of the upgrades, but I have read a few places (yet to be confirmed) that the seat rails were lowered somewhat at the end of '02 early '03.

wow, I'm new here, and this question IS asked a lot.

anyway, I'm 6'5" (6'6" on a good day), 225lbs and I fit, barely, into an AP2.

At 250, you may want to look into the AP2 instead of AP1 just for the increased room inside.

My legs are more squished than anything. Headroom is better than a Miata, legroom is worse, though.

Wow, really?....I keep my friends Miata running while it's being sold because he moved. I find the legroom in the Miata almost unbearable. Sorry to run off topic btw.

Are you too tall for the soft top? Its the same thing as having the soft top up as far as head clearence goes.

Pretty sure this means he doesn't own one, although his profile says he's an owner.
