What is the purpose of this thread other than showing how stupid your parents are?

Jealousy.

Whether or not it is right to buy a kid an S2000 as their first car is a matter for the parents. Whether or not it's good to buy kids expensive anything is also a matter for the parents.

If you're a parent you can make this decision for yourself. But before you tell someone elses kid it is wrong ask yourself this: Would you have said no?

I won't be buying my kids expensive high powered sports cars for their first car. I want them to develop a sense of value and not wrap themselves around a telegraph pole. By the same token, if my parents had offered me anything like this I would have jumped at it.

To the 15yo's with S2000: Enjoy it and I hope that you won't suffer too much from missing out on one of life's most important lessons. The honey that you work for tastes twice as sweet.

I dont understand how you can pay for your own S at the age of 15 and 16. What kind of jobs did/do you have? I can honestly say I didnt buy the rsx and that my parents bought that for me. However, I bought the S after working for 2 years and putting half down and making monthly payments on the rest of the car. And i'm going to school at that too, and its really tough trying to make those payments. Smells like bs? Or maybe i'm just hating cause i didnt have rich parents

Other than the fact that you never learn the values of buying and maintaining something on your own, nor will you have the pride in it that you would if you did it all on your own.

Considering the fact that I purchased my first vehicle (91 accord which I still have) when I was 15 by working at my Dads mechanic shop. I then went on to pay my way through the first year of college (which im going through) and have payed for all my rent for the entire year. I work at my dads shop for free from time to time. I have bought the clothes on my back ever since I was 15 and I have bought every mod for the Accord and the S2000 myself. I think its fair enough to say that if my parents felt that I deserve to get this car, then im happy to accept it. Besides its not like they are paying for it all.

Besides so what if your more fortunate? It does NOT make you lower than anybody else. This has been discussed too many times, im tired of it.

if your a responsible kid and your parents have the money to buy you an s2000, then why not? isnt it every parents desire to make their kid happy? i know if i had the money to purchase whatever car my child wanted, i would be more than glad to buy it for them. it doesnt matter if one is spoiled, rich or had to work 15 years to get their car? its just based on luck and hardwork.
if your the parent and you purchased your child an S, well you have more than enough power to take it away from them and still be able to teach your kids valuable lessons.
im 16 and i fell in love with the s2000 since i saw the prototype. i've been working two jobs since i was 13 and was able to pay for one begining of this year but convincing my parents was the hard part. im currently driving a 97 accord to school but drive the s2000 on the weekends. my parents are still hesitant of me driving a 2 seater sports car but i never proved to them i dont deserve it. since i finally reached my goal of the S, im now only working one job and concintrating on school, HAHA the thing which really matters.

So kids, if your mom and dad bought you the car, so what!? people are just jealous of you. there will always be that rich kid, the jock, the nerd and etc. your just the lucky one with the S.
but truthfully when you work for 4 years and your able to buy that car with your own money, it feels 10 times better because offically its your hardwork your sitting in and no one can take that away from you.
