How is this an "amazing deal?" It is a $15K-$16K car with a $3K-$4K hard top on it. Seems like his price is right where it should be. I would question why a stock car with only 55K miles on it needed a clutch replacement. (And why a competition clutch on a stock motor?)
The One Owner, 55k and seemingly complete history in detail is what makes it a "good deal". Condition looks great and with factory hard top I can see excitement.
I don't like red personally, but if this were turned into dealership.... asking price would be $21K.... Show up with $18k cash to this guy's door and it will be amazing deal..

Competition clutch + one accident (if the post above is correct) = molested. That said, it still might be a good deal. Amazing? Not so much, IMO.
Any car on Craig's List needs close scrutiny. If it was that good, I think it would have been gone by now. Maybe we'll hear from somebody here if they purchase it.

Most amazing deals on S2Ks disappear within hours or a couple days at most. I'd like to hear rationale on the clutch replacement and how that = completely STOCK. Lets see.....
If I squint at the Carfax it looks like no accident reported, unlike what was mentioned above (?). That's encouraging.

Yeah, 16k with hardtop would be a steal. It wouldn't surprise me if the current owner put in the competition clutch because he doesn't know about the CDV on the AP2. He may have thought that the clutch was slipping and this would be an upgrade to solve the problem and make the clutch last more than 50k. Or he beat it to death. It's CL so the possibilities are endless.

$16K with hardtop would be a ridiculously low price. The guy is asking $19k, he'd probably take $18k. Sell the hardtop for $3k and you have a low mileage car in good condition for $15k. Unless you've shopped around lately you can't discount the fact that a LOT of S2000's have been thrashed, riced out, parked outside, and poorly maintained. Restoring a semi-thrashed car back to good condition is expensive when you start talking about painting panels, engine/transmission issues, soft top, windshield, brakes, tires etc. You can save $5k if you buy a thrashed car with high mileage, but it's easy to spend the $5k just to make it decent.
This car at $15k looks like a very good deal to me, providing it passes a PPI and the accident was minor and repaired properly.
I just have to keep reminding myself that for a lot of ppl the "perfect" S2000 is stanced & squared, with pulled fenders and stickers all over the front windshield. No reason to spend $15k on a nice car for that, pick up a cheap high mileage salvaged car and go at it.
