Default amuse replica lip install help

Two questions...

Some peeps were telling me about these cylinder washers. Does anyone have pictures of these or a detailed description so I can purschase them at Home Depot? Where are they supposed to be installed, on the side wheel wells?

And I'm planning to screw it in by the side wheel well and use 3M double sided tape to hold the lip on. Will I still need to drill holes on the bottom and attach it to the front bumper?

Thanks.

I didn't use cylinder spacers when I installed mine. I have them, but I don't honestly see the need for them. Mine is held on by a screw in each fender well and three bolts along the bottom. I've had no problems with it whatsoever.

Be careful when you install it though. Mine was slightly cracked where it wraps around into the fender wells when I got it. I had it repainted and the cracks sealed up, but as soon as I installed it, they re-appeared.

I've also got the Amuse replica (urethane) lip. Don't know about the barrel washers (spacers?) for a side application but I do recommend putting something there (I had to use 6 washers on one side and 4 on the other) or you could develop stress fractures like munckee experienced. I would suggest putting barrel spacers with screws on the bottom. 4-IG included a kit with mine (there were 4 barrel spacers - 2 about 1.5" and 2 about 1" long). It's probably not critical to do this but it sure will stabilize the integrity much better. Except for the gap on the sides (in the wheel wells - not too noticeable) the spoiler fits pretty good - you might need to play with it a little to get it lined up just right (a second pair of hands is strongly suggested). You might contact 4-IG and see if he has a spare spacer kit laying around.

The stress cracks in my lip did not occur from a lack of spacers; they occurred because the lip was too snug to wrap around into the fender wells correctly.

munckee did you install it with the bumper on or off the car? I find that with lips and spoiler that need to wrap around into the fenderwells. The only way to make sure that you don't crack it is to install it with the bumper off so that you have a little more flex.

i use two bolts at the front middle of the lip, and two screws on each side in the wheel well, and tape along the whole lip. I place the tape just a bit lower than the edge of the lip so you can't see the tape. I had complaints that you could see my tape so it made it ugly.

I do however have slight gaps at the very sides of the lip where it just does not want to fit tightly.

Here is something that might help you:

Those cylinders keep the lip at the proper spacing and help to keep it rigid over bumps. The lip gets very filthy from road grime and double sided tape alone will eventually give out. The cracking at the sides where the lip wraps around the fender could have been eliminated if the lip was dremelled out a bit so that no force is needed to make the lip fit around the corner.

I asume that your spoiler was glass then. The urethane replica has the opposite problem - there is about a quarter inch gap where it wraps into the wheelwell.

Just got a urethane replica lip.

I have the following question for you guys who have installed it -- is it going to affect bumper removal?

Are there any circumstances in which I'd have to remove the lip in order to remove another part?

My bumper is always on and off the car for one reason or another, I'd hate to make the task any more irritating than it is
