If you want to play with the idea I'd recommend one of those HUD projector speedos that can be had for a couple of hundred dollars.

Basically you want to up the rate of update. The speed sensor is counting 100's of pulses per second so it should be able to have some level of adjustment.

I for one would pay $$ and spend a lot of time and effort installing a tweak that would make the speedo closer to realtime. I hate the speedo more than I am annoyed by the rear window. My last speeding ticket is partially due to this lag as I realized because I like accelerating up to the speed limit, and of course because of the lag it ended up going about 5 mph over what my target speed was... so instead of going 7 mph over the speed limit, I went 12mph over the speed limit.

Of course, I *do* appreciate what the dampening logic does... but I could care less as I am more interested in actual speed, not some dumbed down version of it.

If any of you brilliant entrepreneurs and electricians out there know of a way to tweak this, I would be very interested in knowing about it!

While it might be okay to have slightly less speedo lag I believe it would drive us all nuts. If the digits "spin" too fast the information will be lost in the blinking LCD sections.

Speeding ticket? Sounds like you're overdue for a radar detector

It doesn't matter to me. I actually like it. When I'm in neutral and it is lingering near 6MPH, I know it is safe to put it in 2nd gear. 5MPH is the safe speed to idle on 2nd gear. Latez!
