Default Another Dash Rattle Question

Since this is my first post, let me say that I love this forum and appreciate all of the help that everyone gives each other. I have fortunately been able to find all of the answers to the questions I have by using the search function...

until now that is....

After spending hours reading through previous threads about rattles coming from the dash it seems that most people were able to resolve it with either tightening the rear-view mirror, or adjusting the visors and the sound seems to be coming from the center of the dash. I checked both the mirror and visors and neither silenced the rattle.

I experience the rattle when driving down the freeway mostly. I guess that puts me about 4k. I have definitely also heard it when driving down surface streets.

The sound seems to be coming from inside the cluster.

Has anyone heard of or had any experience in resolving this?

Also, it is an '05 with 8400 mi or so. Would this be covered under factory warranty if I took it in?

Thanks in advance for the info.

is it a rattle or a squeak?
If it's a squeak, check the hood latch assembly (repeatedly press down lightly on the hood at the front center). Silicon spray can fix the problem.

Seems to come from behind the dash for me when mine has done it in the past.

Thanks for the response. I will check that. I do believe it is more of a rattle than it is a squeak, but any ideas are greatly appreciated because I am fresh out.

bump.

Anyone know anything about a rattle coming from behind the cluster?

I don't want to take it to the dealer if I don't have to.

Thanks!

This would be hit or miss but you could get on your back with a small adjustable wrench and a couple of small screwdrivers and attempt to tighten every visable nut and screw that you can see.
If you took it to the dealer, I'm pretty sure this is what they would do also.

Let me just say. If it's nothing serious, don't take it to the deal. HEHEHE

Could be a lost oil cap behind the engine.

I have a sound in my dash that is not a rattle, I think of rattle as something is loose. My noise is more like a grown or a creak, I can't call it a squeak because it is such a low frequency and I think of a squeak as a high pitch tone.

I have no idea what the noise is, I have no idea how to fix it, but I do know exactly where it is coming from. When the noise gets really bad if I take one finger or my thumb and press in hard on the lower right dash panel near where the heat/ac fan swithch is I can make the noise go away for a short period of time.

My solution to the noise, honestly speaking, was a louder exhaust.

I had the same noise, it happened at 4000 RPM os so olso.
It took me 2 months to figure out what it was, the steering wheel cover (the one that has Honda logo on it) is in contact with somthing and starts making this noise when the engine revs at 3500 or 4k, somthing has to do with the vibration frequency when the engine in that range. all I had to do is twist the cover CCW a bit, and the noise is gone, every couple days the wheel cover gets back to the noise position, I just have to twist it back again, it's just about 2mm or so. I hope you have the same problem, because this is so easy to solve.

More than a few 04-05 owners have reported a rattle that comes from a loose nut on the passenger air bag assembly. That requires pulling the dash to fix apparently.
