Default Another difference in the 04's

Ok, after a drive today I noticed something different on the 04+ models that I haven't before and I haven't seen it mentioned so far on the board. They look better!

Seriously though, I noticed that the rear LED light on the trunk has been redesigned from the previous models. It's just slightly higher and if you look at the trunk from the side, it makes the tail swoop up a bit in the back (kinda like a super tiny spoiler). Also, the contours of the back side of the light are slightly different. The pre04 models have a flat part that stops just short of the edges of the light. The 04+ models are completely flat on the back part of the light. The back part is also taller which makes it swoop up like I mentioned before.

Anyway, thought that was interesting. Nothing spectacular, but nice to see that Honda pays attention to the little things as well. I wonder how much this little difference plays in aerodynamics or if it was strictly cosmetic.

Sorry, I didn't take pictures as we were lined up. If you ever get the two models side by side and look at the trunk from the side where the top is at eye level, you can really see the difference.

Great observation. I noticed that subtle difference too and would characterize the backside of the 00-03 as kind of like Liv Ulman, while the 04+ is a bit more like Jennifer Lopez. Both are sweet, butt most prefer one or the other. To evaluate this technical issue fully, I'd need to consult Ulman and Lopez and conduct a more thorough analysis.

I believe I read that it was raised slightly for US regulation purposes.

Part numbers for the trunk lid are the same for 00 to 05. There was a change in the 3rd light in 01 but 01 to 05 are the same.

The third brake light is the part in question. I was comparing mine to two 01's which might explain it. I need to check out the 02-03 and compare as well.

You mention they did the change in 01. I assume you mean that the change took place on the my02. The cars I was comparing with were 01's and they were different.
