Another Dyno
I too would like to know what mods he has. I agree that the numbers do seem low...but again, some dyno's are just calibrated differently and show lower numbers...it doesn't mean he can't go to the same dyno that a stock S got 204 or 206 or whatever and get 220.
Anyway...what mods DO you have s2krev

Hey guys, sorry I haven't gotten back but I didn't expect that much response so quickly. I was happy with the power increase on the tune but not with the final numbers. But like others have said different dyno and day etc.
I have an Injen intake, Toda Header, Spugen single exhaust, and spoon test pipe.

which spugen single? I'm planning on a Spugen Single Ti in 70mm with a 70mm test pipe and eventually J's Header.
Currently I only have AEM V1 intake and a 63mm test pipe. With all those mods and an EMS you would be making much more than 204 on other Dynojets...either just try taking it to a different one and see what #'s you get, or ask the place you dyno'd at how low their dyno is compared to other dyno's because the number you got are about 6-8% off what you would expect IMO

Yea that's what I was thinking. I'm pretty confident that my car isn't lacking any power so I don't think I'll go to another dyno until I get my head worked on, or turbo still deciding.
I have the 2.5" exhaust. I think that would convert to the 63mm. It's the one that they had in the group buy a while back.
Do most S's make the power around 8? I thought that most of the power was made closer to 9 on the dyno's I saw but maybe I was mistaken.

I for one am not impressed with thousands of dollars giving only a ten horsepower gain. Driver skill will more than make up for ten horsepower in the real world. We all know that the S2000 won't get any significant gains from bolt ons short of forced induction or nitrous. I'm not knocking aftermarket parts but horsepower increase should be the least concern. Do it for looks, price and sound above all else. I dynoed 207hp 143tq in hot muggy florida in the summer on a dynojet with only a short ram intake. I beat many other S2000's that dyno day with many more mods(CAI, exhaust, valves ect. ect.)
Well...an EMS is not "thousands of dollars" I sure you can pick one up for 1500 w/o UEGO and for 10hp thats one of the biggest N/A hp per $ mods that can be done.
Yes driver skill can easily make up for 10hp on a track...but 10hp is 10hp equal drivers and the one with the extra 10hp will be pulling away especially in this case as its an extra 10 from what looks like 5k...not just peak.
Also yes the stock S2k peaks at 8300...I think you could probably get some better tuning and push your peak to 8500 instead of 8000

About the ten h.p. thing making a big difference when racing. .....It doesn't. I used to drag race the S2000 a lot with and against my brother and local S2000 guys and we all had varying dyno #'s from the 180's to the 200's and none of our cars were significantly faster than each other. We all got low to mid 14's in the 1/4 mile even when switching cars with each other.
As far as bolt ons, I would look more towards minimizing drivetrain losses and gearing, as was stated above, this car is pretty much tuned out from the factory (save a S/C or other kind of FI). You CAN getmore HP out of it, but it isnt cheap.
If I install a Comptech (or Toda) flywheel and install the 4.57's, I'll bet I can out run your extra 10 hp.
