That's great you auto-x. I think that's where this car really shines. I'm sure you'll love the throttle response and the smooth power band N/A delivers. I just feel that for precision driving, you can't beat N/A power. It's always there. Screw entering a corner and having a mad rush of turbo power come on in an inappropriate manner as you plow out of the exit! Turbo is great for many things but auto-xing is not one of them.

I must agree, though it is great fun to pull out of a sweeping on-ramp at WOT just after the apex! The evo shines with the AWD in autox, and thankfully you are already at mostly full boost when whipping around at 5k in 1st/2nd gears.

I suppose with the s2k you can start burrying that throttle well before the apex, provided you are pointed properly eh?

BTW I also plan on hitting up a few tracks around here, since they are so plentiful (seca, seca, seca, seca!!)

 

So I went down to test drive today... HUGE shocker: the car was not pdi'd. Thusly it was pretty much undriveable. Mind you I set this test drive up WEDNESDAY... idiots.

I scoffed at the salesman and he suggested they pdi it tomorrow morning. So today (tomorrow from Friday, yesterday) I will hopefully get to finally get some seat time behind the new 2.2.

We'll see what's up.

 

If you can find a used '04 to test drive you may want to consider driving that one instead of a car with 6 mi. on the odometer. An S2000 really needs about 8k-10k for the engine to fully break it. My car felt much stronger after the first 8-10 months of ownership.

The S2000 is a driver's car and will reward you when driven properly.

 

Yeah I fully expect a brand new car with 2 miles on it to be somewhat slower than a nicely aged version of the same thing. I posted a thread in the bay area owners forum so hopefully someone will respond.

I didn't make it down there today anyhow, but I may go down tomorrow.
