Default Another idiot dealer thread

I was told (by Weseloh Honda I believe) that there is absolutely NO WAY that a hardtop ca be installed without gutting the softop . I think they quoted me at $3440 for a hardtop too...

Wow, i seriously wonder if they are just stereotypical dealership scam artists or are completely incompetent

I vote for incompetent person that you have talked to. While I may be out of touch with the price of hard tops lately, $3440 doesn't sound that bad to me if that is a new oem top, with hardware and labor.

When I got mine they told me I should have brought my soft top cover bacause it was supposed to go on underneath the hardtop. First page of the instalation manual says "don't put on soft top cover". Then when I got it home I had to take it apart and adjust all the gaps because they were way off. I could stick a pencil through the gap by the door. And the trim panels weren't on correctly. Good thing I had a copy of the instalation instructions.

Morons. Just have another owner with a HT go with you next time and ask them how the HT was installed with the ST still in there. See what they say.

Probably because they rarely see S2000s, since they don't sell in large volumes. However, because of that, I would hestitate to take my car there for any major repairs.

The $3440 price tag seems on par with the 5 dealers I went to. I eventually got mine from Hardtopguy, but the dealers were all the same. $3499 was actually the price WITHOUT installation. Amazing, but also keep in mind, the OEM lip + install is about $800 too from the dealer.

WOW!! I can't believe he/she actually said they need to gut out the soft top to get the hardtop in. I would never take my car to the dealership for any repairs. Maybe if I was still under warranty, I might take it there for whatever reason, but since I'm not, I wouldn't even think of it.

Now that I think about it, maybe it was a new person who was only familiar with a hard top coming with a CR. That could lead him to believe that it needs to come out.
