Another mindless comparison test. . . Motor Trend - March 04
While I think that those particular complaints about the s2k are BS, esp. the crap about pricing, I honestly can't say that I have a huge problem with the fact that the RX8 won. I think it all depends on what the point of the article is. If they're looking for the best all around purchase for someone who wants a fun car, then they have a valid point. The RX8 really fits the bill for a lot of people. Any review I've read about it is positive about it "fun factor" (handling, etc.), it's reasonably well priced compared to a Z or s2k, and it retains some practicality.
Now if the article said "here's the best car for the all out enthusiast," then yes there's some question about those results. It just depends what they wanted to get out of it.

I think all this tells us is that there should be a coupe/fastback version of the S2000 in addition to the convertible. Just like the M Roadster/M Coupe. I mean, the existing hardtop is OK, but it's just not the same.
Also, since most people who want a coupe on this forum seem to be those who track their cars regularly, they should call the coupe the S2000 Trackstar.
Personally, I'd still take the convertible any day.

not sure why, but i like to see the numbers.... i don't have this issue (yet), so can someone post some 0-100mph or Qtr mile times, etc..... skidpad, braking and most importantly.... LAP TIMES... assuming they did some laps....... of course they use the same driver who gets to spend about 45 seconds getting comfortable with the car.....
That comparo is way off. The only thing the RX8 has is good looks if ANYTHING. It does not outperform much of anything. And after you've driven an s2000, nothing much gives that fun factor feeling. Yes, I have driven the RX8 and 350Z. Maybe if I never had/drove the S2k I'd have one.
