There's no question the Vette is a fun ride. But I just can't identify with people who move to a 'Vette from an S2000. The two cars have almost nothing in common. The S is a modern iteration of the classic British roadster: small, nimble, relatively diminutive engine making incredible power for its size. The Chevy has an engine that makes huge gobs of torque and HP, but displacing 5.7 liters it should do no less, and although it may be viscerally satisfying to feel pressed into the seat back during acceleration, it's no amazing feat relative to 2.0 liters making 240 Horses. Imagine if the 'Vette engine were anything close to as efficient as the S2000? Then I'd be impressed.

So what is "bottom dollar" on a new Z06 these days? Somewhere around $45K?

The Z06 is more nimble than the S2000, it's faster than the S2000, it's quicker than the S2000, it has bigger tires than the S2000, and an engine than can be easily modded. The only down to a Z06 is that it's not a convertible. The Z06 also has more storage room, a more comfortable cabin, power seats, a great sound system, and a great heritage. On top of that, how could you deny 405 horses? The Corvette badge will still be around after the S2000 is long forgotten. Great choice!

Invoice is about $46K and they are readily available with 0% at ~51K. Anyone that paid more than that got screwed.

Okay lets see. I used a loan calculator to tell me that, given a $3k down payment to keep things simple, assuming a 5 year 0% loan, I pay around $560 per month on the s2k, and I'd be paying $850 a month for a Z05.
I was actually very torn between the Z05 and the S2k. The s2k seemed more roomy. The Vette's windshield seemed smallish to me. Also, I see 5 vettes at least every time I drive around. They are prolly the most common sports car I see.
After I tire of my s2k, I plan on buying a used Lamborghini .. Something like:

I bet I'll hate it, but you can't fight destiny. (:

Congrats on the purchase Spa. What color did you get?

I'm probably going to drive my car until December, it's one year anniversary, and then sell it for a Z06. I love the fact that this car is a Honda and that it revs out; but, it leaves me desiring something more as far as output is concerned. It's strange though because the first two test drives left me with the impression that the power would suit me fine. 5,000 miles later I find myself having some second thoughts. Who knows? Perhaps I will sell my Accord, make the S2000 the daily driver, and have the Z06 as the garage queen. A couple of more months will tell all.
