The time: Saturday, noon.
The place: a shopping center on River Road in Potomac, Maryland, a leafy Washington suburb of mansions and winding sports-car roads.
The scene: perfect, cloudless sky. Every other car is a Boxster, Carrera, Z3, or SLK. It's like a mobile German car showroom. Tops down all around.
We're parking the S2000 to grab a sandwich. Beside us comes a Ford Expedition. A fiftyish guy climbs down, looks admiringly at our car and says "I didn't know Honda made such fancy cars!"
"Yes," I say. "We love it. Honda made this car to commemorate its 50th anniversary."
He walks away smiling.
Sometimes it pays to leave the "H" on your car!

 

I love driving around those back roads off River rd in the warm summer nights with the top down. Whenever I visit my friends living there, I always take the long routes.
