I have a bunch of dino oil 5W30 and 6 quarts Mobil 1 (same weight) from my previous car. From everything I've gathered on this forum, I shouldn't switch to synthetic until 10k. So is 5W30 dino oil OK till then? - should only be during cooler months here in Dallas. The dealer said 'no' - 10W30 only. Just want to use this stuff in my garage up.

IMO there nothing wrong with using the 5W30, especially in the cooler weather. Many people do with no problems.

 

The dealer is sadly misinformed. Don't feel bad, even Dubya is off the mark sometimes.
