well if i had my choice I'd be getting an e36 m3 or perhaps an e30, but i know i wouldnt be able to afford the maitnance or replacing bmw parts if need be.

i also have a back up daily driver so this would strickly be a weekend, summer car. from what I hear I'm very excited about the car.

I'm hoping with the release of the 2004 the older body style will drop in price alittle and I plan to buy one at the end of the summer, they should be alittle cheaper then as well correct?

thanks for the input everyone

I used to own an '88 E30 M3, an '89 325iX, and a '95 E36 M3.

I currently have a '90 E30 M3 and an '02 325xiT.

I'm a huge BMW fan. When I wanted a two seat sports car, I went with the S2000. It's the real deal.

The only other car I considered was a Lotus Elise. Two problems with getting an Elise....

1) I wanted the car this summer ... not next.

2) I want to actually drive the thing often. The Elise is impractical to an absurd level. It'll probably be a headache too ... since it's built by Lotus and my nearest dealership is more than an hour away.

The S2000 is a blast, but it's the wrong car for prestige-seeking-badge-lovers. The BMW roundel is better if you're looking for that elusive "status symbol". Of course, that's changing since everybody and his brother now owns a BMW (more on the way with the 2 series cars).

I had a 98 e36 M3. Loved the torque and handling. But the S2000 is simply more fun and more challenging. Oversteer is always more fun than understeer.

I have a 02 Mcoupe (S54) and an 03 M3. I enjoy the BMW's, but it is a blast to drive my 04 S2000. As noted before, it is a much different car than the BMW's, but there is value to variety and I am so happy to have the S2000!

The S2000 has been in the shop more times than both M coupes combined.
