OK if I am super paranoid, what is a car alarm pager, is it the obvious and if your alarm goes off you get paged about it? If so are there any alarms that when activated can text your mobile phone or just phone you or something??

Cheers Ivor

I have the honda security alarm installed in my Prelude. I was thinking more along the lines of whether it was better to have it or go without it. When I get a S2K I don't know if I want other people except Honda technicians to touch my ride.

I'm not worried about theft, just vandalism...

Having to leave my car from 7am until 330pm 3 days a week in a relatively less than average looking area (the park and ride is located in an industrial type area), I know its not going to get stolen...

Since I'm parking curbside, Anyone could walk up and do what they want to the car. And its not like its in front of a business where someone would come out and avert an act of vandalism...

I thoroughly expect that I will be the victim of vandalism at some point, be it as simple as the antenna theft, or as complex as someone slicing my top open to get in the car, only to learn that there is nothing to steal...

<sigh> What can you do... No alarm will help in this case, as no one is really around to respond. A theif might get the top cut with the alarm going off, take a peek inside and see nothing, then run off... only takes a few seconds...

I'm worried about vandalism too. Do most of you actually leave your car parked without the top down?

I leave my top down only if I'm able to see the vehicle, or I know I will be back really quick...

I take my radar detector with me when I leave, and lock the secret compartment... the only personal items to steal are my CDs, mostly home burned so its not a big loss

with my new rear window, I suspect I will be leaving the top down more, as its a bit longer to put the towel into the window before retracting... Just not practical to put it up/down up/down over and over for short trips...

My advice if you are THAT worried and have a little money to burn... Get a cheap daily driver for going back and fourth to work. Thats what I did.

I think you are mistaken if you believe the S2000 won't get stolen. The rims and seats are in high demand for modified hondas and toyotas. And the stock immobilizer is easy to overcome.
