I thought those things were made out of rust-proof metal? The edge of the are showing an orange hue from rust. Any way to prevent it???

Rotors of iron work really well but I do not know why Honda did not treat them to prevent rust (many manufacturers do, even domestics). A cad or zinc coating wears off the swept area quickly but keeps the rest from rusting.

I painted mine with header paint but the heat of track use is very hard on the paint and it does not hold up well.. but still looks better than rust. My next set will be treated.

Most aftermarket rotors are treated or you can buy a set of stock rotors and have them treated before installing. Most shops do not recommend treating used rotors.

Here is a shot of a painted rotor

Believe it or not, but my 2001 Ford Focus ZX3 has all 4 discs plated with something... none of them have rusted yet (after multiple snows, rains, and LOTS of salt) and they are as silver as ever...
