Default Anybody ever chirp the tires in second

Now have 1300 miles on my 03' and have been getting the hang of shifting this awesome little machine. I was accelerating the other day hard through first, second and third and actually caught some rubber shifting into second. If you drive this car right it really has some very nice power....

Anybody else catching rubber (chirp) in second on a stock s2000?

I haven't chirped second. I think I would need to "pop" the clutch durring the shift, right? I tend to transition the power fairly smoothly (albeit very quickly.)

Never chirped even from 9K shifting. Must be because of those booger sticky S02's.

You can do it. It might help to shift a little below the redline; you want to catch second right at 7500 rpm. That's the sweet spot.

change out of the s02s and the rear is a lot looser...
chirping, sliding, fish-tailing all become possible with less sticky tires

The only time I've had the rears spinning going into 2nd is at an auto-x. It's not really chirping though when they're spinning! I've done some "aggressive" shifting on the streets and never got a chirp. I think road surface has a lot to do with it, there's a lot of tar in the roads up here.

I think the 03's have a better clutch ....I get a lot of barks out of 2nd and I don't side step the pedal ,just keep it in the sweet spot and shift fast without letting the rev's fall off so much .

I don't think you could chirp them without abusing the car. The tires are just too sticky.

I used to chirp my RSX Type S on the 1-2 shift and the 2-3 shift, just because it had shitty tires.
