I was just wondering if anyone ever break their differential on a stock S2000 (no clutch upgrade, no supercharger), on the street doing 7000 RPM clutch drops?

I understand if some persons shattered the diff. at the 1/4 mile track because of the sticky launch pad...but I was wondering if anyone broke it just on the street.

Now that there are people with some serious milage...I am looking for the the long term effects 7k clutch dumping has on the car.

I have about 38,000 miles...and dump the clutch every now and then. No problems yet...

 

mine blew up while i was out driving in the mountains. I only launch at autocrosses.

 

I believe my brother's was as a result of launching, but he's not admitting to anything...

 

Didn't the legendary S2000Chris [aka Tiger] destroy his differential/rear axle? I seem to recall that some members of the old board verified that there was indeed a red S2K with the stated problem at the dealer in NY where Chris said he had taken it [there being some concern that Chris' ownership was fantasy].

 

I think the Reverend did. I've heard of only a few others.
