Anyone get a good deal on an S2000?
MDS2k, I got my car at Herson's too back in December. The only forced options on there was the rear trunk spoiler, but I talked them into throwing in the chin spoiler for free! I also received a complementary car cover from them because they forgot to remove my spring spacers at the time of delivery. No complaints here. Herson's is also very accomodating to aftermarket parts, they will sell and install equipment and back it up with a full warranty, including the supercharger.
Got my 2001 Spa Yellow in Michigan 3 weeks ago for MSRP. However, on Ebay, there was a brand new white/red for $30,900 at a dealer on the east coast. Go to http://www.ebay.com and type in "S2000" in the search.
DO NOT PAY ONE CENT OVER MSRP FOR THE S2000!
But, BUY NOW before spring arrives. The price WILL go up as demand increases for them in the warmer weather.
Cheers,
PS. Any of you people think that the idea to sell the S2000's at a premium over MSRP was a conspiracy by the dealers to at least guarantee that they could make the $4K profit at MSRP?

Not that it makes much difference after reading all of the other posts but mine was purchased for MSRP with a free cargo pouch (that's what the hooks are for behind the seats). Pretty good deal since the next cheapest price I found on a Spa Yellow was $37K in this area.
It's tougher to get below MSRP here in the South but then again we get to drive all year round.
For used models checkout CarMax online. Last time I looked they had several to choose from.

$500 over MSRP from Priceline.com couple of weeks ago.
It was a counteroffer which I rejected...
I tried pricline again this week, and got a counteroffer of $1000 over MSRP... naturally I didn't accept that one either...
Sigh, the price you pay for being a Californian, huh?
This doesn't make any sense. It's probably cheaper to ship S2000's to the west coast compared the the east coast. If the demand is THAT high on the west coast, why don't they just ship more here?
Anyway, whatever, I'm in no hurry of getting one. I'm not loaded, therefore I just dread handing dealer extra money.

MDS2K- I am getting my 2001 Silver/Red Stook from Northwest Honda in Owings Mills for MSRP. For those of you who are
not from Maryland sales tax is also only 5%, so that's a pretty sweet deal. Not to mention Maryland registration is abbout $75, and YES that's for 2 years! California is a ripoff. Not only are S2k's going for way over MSRP but sales tax is over 8% and registration is somewhere in the
vicinity of $600 every year! It's crazy, this is why I'm getting mine in Maryland. Hey, you guys think I can ask for
a free car cover or front spoiler??? What's you experiences on this?? Thanks guys and gals.

I picked up mine for MSRP including wind screen, wheel locks, paint treatment and undercoat. BTW- floor mats come standard from factory. I've heard that many dealers have sold these cars for up to $9000 over MSRP so I'm guessing it's worth more than what I paid for it.....NOW that's a first for me! LOL
