Default Anyone going to be in D.C. for the 4th?

I'm flying to PA in a few weeks, and we will be spending the 4th of July in D.C.
Anyone else going to be there?

Dave

Gee.. what could be happening in the nation's capital on the 4th of July ?

I don't think there's going to be any special S2000 thing though, if that's what you're talking about. There's always a big event on the Mall in front of the Washington Monument with fireworks and big name musicians.

To answer Dave's question: I think, unfortunately, that I'm going to be out of town.

Just don't plan on leaving too soon after the fireworks. I've heard it's a zoo getting out.

Yeah, it takes a few hours to get out of D.C. on the 4th. Luckily my dad worked downtown for 20 years and we used to park in the underground garage at his office and walk from there

Yea they attract a lot of people.......specially when they get just about every available shooter from all of NEW ENGLAND to come down. They will easily blow off over a half million dollars worth of fire works!

It looks as though I'll be in the DC area for the 4th but as for that DC fireworks traffic jam.... I don't think so. I may try to go with friends by boat? I would never park a "S2" in DC (anywhere)! That is unless you want to see it vanish, either in part or whole.

2nd choice will be Ft. Belvoir (VA) fireworks and shows located about 20-min south of DC. They sometimes have a display that is equal to or close to DC's extravaganza. The diff is 10-min in, and 1-hour out instead of 3-4 hours out!

Suggestion: Get a hotel room with a view of the Potomac in Crystal City, VA near National Airport and watch it from the comfort of your room.

Dave

BTW: Born and raised in the DC area but don't like it!

I drive my S2K down into DC almost every weekend. Haven't had a problem yet. As for the fireworks, yeah, you'll be stuck in traffic for a while.

I guess that's what you call "Livi'n on the edge" or "Flirt'n with disaster". I wouldn't even park mine in Georgetown (a better area than most) at night. Did I mention my friend's brother was shot in the head and killed (in DC/Georgetown) because he wouldn't give up his wallet? I guess you haven't had that happen either?
