This has happened three times now. Whenever my wife and I decide to go to a nice restaraunt for dinner, when its time for the valet to get the car back - they can never get the car to start and I inevitably have to walk over and tell them to push the starter button. The idea of them clawing away and pushing the key to the max gives me nightmares!!

Do you guys get your stooks valet parked (at most restaraunts you have no option) and do you tell them in advance about the button??

NO ONE will be valet parking my S for a VERY long time. . . If I go out to dinner & the car is going to be in a tight parking lot, I'd probably just drive the Prelude. . .

The last time (a few years ago) I had to valet my car (the Prelude), it came back with several scrapes on the front bumper Since then, I don't let anyone valet park any of my cars. . .

I actually had a date that complained when I insisted to park my own car. . . Needless to say, she had to go

Shoot...I always just give the valet person money for the spot I want, and park it myself.

deliverately, I would not tell him. I rather park it myself and get it back myself. But most likely, if I'm going to a place I have to valet park, I'd take Legend.

Cheers,

no valets for me either... if they let me self park (they usually let me park right in front at most places i have been), i tip them anyway. if not, i find another lot.
learned this from driving my CJ- it has a kill switch so they cant valet it. was always a good excuse.
just tell the valet that your car has a kill switch and they wont be able to start it, so you need to self-park...

Wouldn't think of letting the valets have at my S2000, especially after my experience at the Crustacean, a trendy Beverly Hills restaurant with a valet service provided by a bunch of pissed off East German folks. They did approximately $2500 of damage to the underside of my Legend LS 6 speed coupe. I now give valets a big tip to let me park and lock it. That goes for my now perfect Legend as well as my S2000. My friend has a Legend sedan. We went to the Marakesh restaurant in Newport Beach. The valet didn't like the tip. He drove the car over to us with the key in the start position, grinding the starter the entire way from the spot to where we were standing. I restrained my friend, a former member of the UK olympic track and field team from doing physical violence to the little man (no kid, about 40 years old) who abused the car. Needless to say, we don't go to that restaurant any more. Then of course there's the famous story about the valets at the Ritz Carlton in Laguna Niguel who took a joy ride in a brand new 360 Modena (originally and incorrectly reported as a 355) and totalled it. Ooops. Grand theft auto.

I don't care much for valet. Although I've had to leave it with them a number of times. The last was pretty bad. I mean think about who's parking your car. Is it some college grad or some business/technical professional? No, it's usually someone who couldn't give a sht who the car belongs to or what it's worth.

I avoid all parking lots or restaurants that have valet parking. I know it sucks but hey, what can you do!

As for your problem, i suggest you put 2 sticky notes, one on the button and one on the dash saying start button on left.
