I owned 2 briefly while trying to sell the older one, but it's a waste IMO owning two cars that are so similar.

Agreed... to a point. Owning 2 S2000's seems like overkill, but owning an S2000 + NSX would be sweet.

I'd go for S2K/NSX + Evo 9 combo myself.

If they're both for street, maybe.

But it sure is nice not having to clean the interior / change brake pads / change wheels / swap expensive shocks so they don't rust in Winter. Add to that track cars sometimes lack creature comforts and it makes a lot of sense.

We've had our first S2000 since 2003. It got progressively modded and beaten on for track until it wasn't a good daily driver anymore. Then I started daily driving the tow vehicle (SUV). Then I missed driving an S2000 and picked up a new CR for cheap when the economy was sucking.

When the track S2000 blew a motor and we took the opportunity to upgrade from SC to turbo, we pulled the CR into autocross duty. It saved a lot of pain and stress while the FI car was down.

At this point, I'm convinced that having a "back up car" for tracking is the way to go. Because stuff inevitably breaks when you track cars. It's to the point where I'd rather have 2 S2000s than a single more expensive car that kind-of does both.

^^^ I agree w/ you to a point, but would rather have different street vs. track experiences. Which is why I have a Miata (primarily track car) and an M3 (street) vs. 2 Miatas (or S2000's). Still, there's no universal right answer, I just know that 2 of the same car doesn't make sense for me.

my 5 yr goal: Nsx + S2k.. I have the garage space for both, but as it sits now, the S is quite lonely in there..

The thought of 2 s2000s has definitely crossed my mind. 1 stripped Autox n/a, and 1 f/i cruiser. Or 1 stripped f/i autox and 1 n/a cruiser. Hmmm
