It's a TSB, you won't be receiving a letter from AHM or your dealer. TSBs are done on a need to be done basis by your dealer. It's not a mass recall by the manufacturer.

According to this TSB everyone affected will be getting a letter/postcard. I believe they are doing this to avoid a big rush on the parts needed for the TSB. The TSB is actually 3 pages long and it's the last page that talks about the letters.

Good point, I missed the last page last time. I guess you will be getting a letter. Hmm why don't they call this a recall then?

Because recalls are a pretty big deal I believe with the government. They are done for safety related items and probably have a lot regulations they have to go by. This is more of a preventative maintenance sort of item.

Recalls are typically safety-related and if the NHTSA deems that an issue can possibly cause bodily injury, it will escalate that issue to a safety recall. The spark plug problem is obviously not safety-related but is more severe than a "run of the mill" TSB since Honda is supposedly issuing letters and expensive damage can occur to the engine.

For those interested, I have converted the scans of the TSB into a PDF file (just under 3MB in size at a resolution of 150 dpi -- doesn't provide the sharpest detail but allows a compromise between file size and image quality).

I think in one of the other posts, someone said the letter will be going out in about 3 weeks or so. We should be seeing them soon. The dealres probably want to order all the sparkplug kits first, before sending out letters.
