Anyone interested in a glass rear window?
I also would love to take part in this as the plastic window is the only shortcomming I can find in my MY2001. The car is truly as masterpiece with the only imperfection being the creasing I get in the window. I'm currently in a pretty tight financial situation, but if Honda picks up half of the tab for doing a retro fit that will give me a glass window, it's almost like I can't afford not to...let's do all we can to make this happen...

Folks,
Listen up. I have a friend who bought one of the very first S2000s in Michigan... ordered at the Detroit Auto Show when they first came out. He is not active at this site; however, he personally contacted American Honda within the past month. The person he spoke with indicated that Honda is CONSIDERING spliting the costs with owners of plastic window cars IF there is enough PUSH-BACK from owners who feel they came up short.
It sounded encouraging to me. My first thought is to organize something through this site along with the support... maybe inside contacts of S2kCA... to see what MIGHT be possible. Keep in mind they didn't promise anything but they might be willing to share the load.
Ideas?

While I wouldn't mind a 50/50 split cost retrofit, it sounds too good to be true that AH would consider it. If it's not broken... why would they offer to fix it? It's not a defect or recall. And I'm sure they won't have problems selling the S 2000 to other anxious buyers.
Written correspondence would get more recognition than a paper or electronic petition.

I'm not sure what would be the most effective campaign -- write-in, call-in, email-in, or all of the above.
After reading the recent post that Honda now offers a "retro kit" for sale in Japan, I'd say things are looking a little better.
Since US sales were over 50% of the total production for the first two years . . . and there is strength in numbers, its worth a try in my opinion.
